Cold Turkey was born on the 26th December 2010 in the run-down garden of District Six Cafe. Since then the event has moved to Amadoda’s Braai in Woodstock, and happens every two weeks.
R20 gets you through the door, you can choose to buy Amadodas braai food, cooked to perfection or one of their braai packs which you can cook yourself. Fire drums are provided.
Its an afternoon filled with bass, beers and braai.
If you look closely, you may see Microstripe as a tiny speck in the distance.
Last Sunday’s event was off the hook, with over 800 people through the doors.
You can see more info on their Facebook page.
This weeks XXXL Bass show features two legends. Firstly, we are interviewing the man behind some of the fattest breakbeat tunes of the past few years! General MIDI from the UK. We are hearing what he is up to – apparently he is teaching computer music production at The Ministry of Sound! We are also chatting to local DJ legend Malone, who will sure to be a laugh and three quarters! Malone is also mixing up some fresh basslines live in the studio – so treat your ears in the second hour of the show. If you havent heard this guy, you are in for an experience! Get ready to jump up and go honey-nut-loopy! There are also tons of new tracks by artists like You Killing Me, Ed Solo and a few surprises in store, as well as our essential gig guide!
Malone, Skam and Quake in the mix tonight!
