XXXL Bass Show 26 October – Featuring Phaze

For the next show we bring you Alex Marais.

He began his DJ’ing career back in 2008, at the tender age of 16. Among his first events was the hosting of MHP which, due to popular demand, was brought back twice over the years with MHP2 and MHP3 respectively. Alex’s taste in music has changed quite a bit from the early days of commercial tunes to his current love of drum and bass bangers which continues to grow exponentially.

In 2010, he won the Next Generation DJ competition held at Bliss Lounge, where he has played several times as well as Butterfly Studios, Springboks Newlands, Teen Fest and Club 91.

So far, 2011 has seen Alex play the Ridd’ems party at Blizzards and the Dubnation party at the late Tequila Town as well as becoming the winner of both the Brick City Competition at Fiction DJ Bar and the Fukkit Competition at Dakota. He is now also the resident DJ for The Warehouse Project, where he has played alongside the likes of Narch.

Alex now has to focus on splitting his time between his studies, DJ’ing and producing his own tracks. He intends to release his forthcoming EP, on Dubflex Records by mid-July 2011. The EP will include Breach and Vengeance – two of his most prolific tracks to date.

Phaze is definitely going places, and fast, so keep an eye out for him because he could just be the next big ting!

XXXL Bass Show 5 October – LG Fritz

LG Fritz started to DJ at the age of 18 while living in the UK. Learning on vinyl and being an avid listener of dance music since the age of 14, he quickly picked up the knowledge and skills and began to play Hard House and Trance. This quickly led to sets all around the UK playing amongst some of the best underground DJs in the scene.

Slowly his musical tastes evolved to a new sound emerging from the underground, Electro. LG Fritz was hooked and soon started to promote a monthly event, Audiotronic, showcasing the best up and coming Electro, Breaks and Techno DJ’s.

At the age of 21 LG Fritz made the move back to his country of birth, South Africa, in 2007. He took some time away from the DJ scene to concentrate on various other projects including working on some original tracks and remixes.

After an extended break from DJing, LG Fritz decided to get back into what he loved the most, playing driving, hard bassline driven music. LG Fritz can be heard playing anything from Dubstep, Electro, Drum & Bass and Breaks.

LG Fritz is partner and promoter of Minimix To The Max blog, runs the Fukk It parties along side Jonny Robotix, Blitzkrieg and Grimehouse. LG Fritz represents On a Break Records as a DJ as well as being signed to West Coast Pro artist management agency and becoming resident at the up and coming event Ridd’ems.

Steve Elsworth AKA Audiophile021 is an unquantifiable music powerhouse. A Sound engineer by trade, he spends most of his life enveloped in chords and rhythm. A DJ and producer – He perfectly marries solid production steeped in pure quality and original style, all the while making and playing tracks that rock a crowd to the floor boards.

Initially rooted in Rock and Metal, Audiophile021 quickly began flirting with electronic music, and his love affair with crunchy basslines and body-thumping drums rapidly grew into obsessive passion.
